P O W E R P I L A T E S ®
The Studio Corpus Ray has been operating as a Power Pilates Affiliate Training Centre since the end of 2004, offering the training programs of the Power Pilates Studio.
The Power Pilates Studio was founded in 1989 by Dr. Howard Sichel and Susan Moran-Perich; the Educational Program Director is Bob Liekens, former dancer and instructor of the Martha Graham Studio in New York and a strong group of highly educated instructors were trained and certified in the beginning of the 1980s by Romana Kryzanowska. Combined, they have over 80 years of experience in classical Pilates training. Collectively our knowledge and experience makes our organisation and educational programming stronger than any other in the Pilates Method.
Due to our need for quality instructors and our desire to further spread the classical technique of Joseph Pilates, we established our certification program in 1997 and have certified over 1000 instructors worldwide.
CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
The Pilates Method started evolving with the realization that the centre of our body is the place where each movement should derive from. The results of this exercising and movement are flexibility, development of the range of movement and aesthetically a well trained body.
Apart from learning the exercises the real training is focused on offering the instructor the right tools which will enable him/her understand and transmit the principles of the Method taught in the program. So he/she learns how to teach by using the specially designed teaching formula. The participants in the program learn the specifics of a balanced workout, develop the "eye" and the ability to recognize proper body mechanisms and learn the appropriate methods to work with special case clients (clients with back problems, problems with the neck and the joints.)
During our unique program, the trainees learn all the exercises and principles Joseph Pilates designed, through a classical, systematic and complete approach.
Classical or authentic pertains to the exercises being taught and the vocabulary used to teach them.
Systematic pertains to the progression of a session starting in a horizontal level towards a vertical one (sitting or standing)
Complete pertains to the inclusion of all the special equipment within a session/lesson.
We believe that learning is a lifelong process and that training is the first step. Once certified, instructors are required complete continuing education seminars organised by Power Pilates. These programs allow the instructors to renew the principles and the exercises learned during certification, also learn more advanced exercises and most importantly retain the integrity of the method alive.
BEGINNER MAT PROGRAM
The beginner mat program is a 16 hour one. There is no need of any Pilates equipment to be taught
This program is the foundation for all the rest. All programs are built on the information transmitted in this one. During this seminar 18 beginner mat exercises are taught and you get introduced to the teaching skills (philosophy, teaching formula, style - Power Pilates teaching tools "learn how to teach"). As soon as you complete and pass this seminar you will receive the certificate for teaching beginner's mat classes from Power Pilates
